Schedule for the Month: Week 1
We've broken up the tutorial into smaller segments that will allow you to work together in groups and prepare for sessions with your EBM Preceptor.
Week One: Asking Clinical Questions, Finding Evidence
Objectives:
|
Online Reading: |
Preparation:With your group of teaching seniors for the month, prepare 2 or 3 clinical questions on a topic of interest to you. If you're having difficulty picking a question, try to think of a question about management that came up while you were on service recently. Try to phrase these questions in a format that makes it easy for you to choose the appropriate PubMed search terms. Next, for each question, choose what you think are the most appropriate PubMed search terms. Have these questions and search terms ready for your visit with your EBM Preceptor. |
Scheduling:Arrange a time for you and your group to meet with the EBM Preceptor sometime this week. Plan this meeting early, as both you and the preceptors likely have lots of other commitments, and schedules fill up fast. |
First Meeting:When you meet with your preceptor, you will be expected to bring your group's list of potential clinical questions and search strategies. At the meeting, you will discuss the questions, receive feedback on your work, explore the PubMed search interface and decide on a single question to use for your CAT file. |
